Striper Fishing with Bill Cottle
by

I took my fourteen year-old son, who had never fished for stripers and has only limited experience with a fly rod.
It was very easy to find Bill's house. It is just over the Bourne Bridge. I am sure that we have all had experiences looking for a certain house or flower box when meeting a guide. Bill was in the yard waiting for us. We moved our gear into Bill's truck, and he took us back over the bridge and down a private road to a secluded spot.
Four the next four hours, Bill helped my son to cast and strip correctly for stripers. Bill was so successful that my son caught his first striper and had a wonderful day. He had a wonderful introduction to fly fishing for stripers. I want to emphasize that Bill taught in a manner in which the kid never became tired or frustrated--a very difficult thing to do.
Bill says that he has many spots for wading. My experience is that he certainly knows where the fish are. I hope to fish with him again in the fall for the big ones.
I recommend that any GBTU members who want to shore fish for stripers with a real gentleman who is only an hour away from Boston contact Bill at (508) 759-2348.
