6/6/05 Ipswich Fishing Report from Fred Jennings

I had the best day of this season so far!

It started out looking like a disaster, but my friend
Mike Meadowcroft and I hadn't been out for two weeks,
and we were both eager to fish.

We fished Gravelly Island and Rock Point.

I had 76 fish with some good fish in the mix of 3x21"
and 6x22" and 2x24" and one 25" striper as well. Mike
had 30 fish, with a few 21" to 22" and one 25" fish.
Neither of us caught any bluefish the whole trip, and
had no suspicious breakoffs, so the blues have gone
(at least for the moment), which was a great relief!

There are lots of fish in the river, and I'm glad to
see this in July as it may mean they'll stick around
for a while. But one never knows. It's supposed to be
hot (mid-90's) tomorrow, which may drive them out of
the river again. But this trip was a nice surprise.

Tight lines!
