8/28/04 Nantucket News from Capt. Lynne Heyer
Finally, I went fishing. I caught fish, and I am a happier and better person to be around. Capt./Hubby Jeff took me out before work this morning. We hit the Bonito bar and I landed three bones and lost a few flies to the blues. Capt. Bill Toelstedt was next to us and was having a pretty good trip also. He got his client on some nice bones after he borrowed some of our secret flies. Jeff got a call from Capt. Ken Panecek and he caught a bluefin while we were out. Seemed most of the boats were having great luck both on spin and fly.
Yesterday’s catching was pretty hot also. Let’s see…where to start. Mark Kessler went as Jeff’s first trip and they had some fun on the Bonito Bar. I think they landed two bones. His second trip was with Joe Santucci. Jeff and Joe had pretty good luck sight fishing with Joe landing a 33-inch bass on his fly rod. Congrats to Joe. Jeff’s third and last trip with Garrett Thornburg was a great way to finish off the day. Garrett landed blues, bonito and bluefin. It was the BBB slam. Ken Panecek had a good afternoon landing at least one bluefin and some bones. Capt Bill caught two bluefin yesterday too. Awesome fishing the last week or so.
Good news from Great Point, IT’S OPEN! I will have a fresh report soon from up that way. I have also heard of stripers at Cisco and Surfside.
Yesterday, Tim Griffin reported stripers at the Jetties at night and a lot of them. He said they weren't all that big, but there were plenty. Looks like things are happening. Get out and wet a line!
