10/20/04 Nantucket News from Capt. Lynne Heyer

Good afternoon. It really feels like fall today. It's cool, gray and windy. The fishing is reflecting the weather also. The boats have not had much luck even leaving their slips. Jeff has had a couple trips that have been okay. Last Wednesday, he fished with Gary Price and friend and found a few bass. John Shields and Doug Kern were out (with Capt. Jeff) on Friday, and they found a few hungry albies. They fished Tuckernuck and Muskeget Islands and did pretty well. Jeff also fished Monday with Dwight Moore and they got skunked--not from the lack of trying, but the fishing was tough. I got a report from Capt. Ken Panacek that he had good fishing in Polpis Harbor a few nights back. I have Burt Went confirming the fishing in Polpis Harbor too. Burt has been fishing from shore and has had success, two nights ago he landed many fish ranging from 12 to 38 inches. He just called and said that the fish are still there. Today he fished the Medouie Creek side and did just as well. I am also getting sporadic reports of big fish along the south shore, Cisco and Miacomet in the evening. I guess I should put on my waders and get my butt out there. That's the best report I have had in days.
