Documentary: "Relics and Rivers: Dismantling Dams in New England"

Join the Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust for a showing of this National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) documentary. This story shows how the first coastal dam removal in Massachusetts was completed in Plymouth. It starts with an historical perspective, tracing the importance of anadromous fisheries to the earliest colonists and examining the role that dams played in fisheries decline.

One of the obstacles on the Concord River is the dam in Billerica. There is funding available (it is a SuperFund site) that will help take down the dam, but we need the fish first. Showing the documentary is just part of preparing us all for that task.
